About the Company
SECCA Search Group is partnering with a top-tier, privately held homebuilder to hire a Director of Land Development for the Dallas market. This high-impact leadership role is responsible for overseeing the horizontal development of residential communities from entitlement through lot delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Project Management & Execution
- Lead full-cycle land development including site prep, grading, utilities, paving, and final delivery
- Manage construction schedules, budgets, and consultant performance across multiple active projects
- Oversee bid processes and negotiate with engineers, contractors, and municipalities
- Cross-Department Collaboration
- Partner with acquisition, construction, and finance teams to align development plans with division goals
- Guide civil engineering efforts during plan design and permitting phases
- Ensure timely coordination of off-site and on-site improvements
- Regulatory & Compliance Oversight
- Navigate entitlement, zoning, and permitting processes across multiple jurisdictions
- Maintain strong relationships with local agencies, utility providers, and consultants
- Ensure adherence to municipal codes, development agreements, and environmental standards
- Strategic Oversight
- Monitor project milestones and risks, proactively solving challenges to maintain schedules
- Contribute to division land strategies and long-term community development planning
- Provide leadership in budgeting, vendor selection, and contract execution
Qualifications
- Experience: 7+ years of residential land development experience, preferably in Texas markets
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of entitlement, permitting, and municipal coordination
- Background: Engineering, land planning, or construction management experience strongly preferred
- Skills: Strong leadership, vendor negotiation, and budget oversight capabilities
- Mindset: Organized, collaborative, and solutions-oriented with high attention to detail
