01 / The Opportunity

About the role.

The Area Construction Manager will oversee residential construction operations across multiple communities, ensuring homes are completed on schedule, within budget, and according to established quality and safety standards.

This individual will lead and develop Construction Managers while working closely with trade partners, municipal inspectors, Sales, and other internal teams to maintain consistent execution across assigned communities.

The role requires an experienced residential construction leader with strong production homebuilding knowledge and the ability to manage teams, schedules, costs, quality, and overall field performance.

02 / Responsibilities

What you'll do.

    Lead, coach, mentor, and develop Construction Managers across multiple residential communities.

  2. 02

    Oversee daily construction activities, schedules, budgets, quality standards, safety, and field performance.

  3. 03

    Provide ongoing training related to scheduling, warranty prevention, quality control, trade partner supervision, cost management, and company procedures.

  4. 04

    Manage staffing, performance evaluations, professional development, and accountability across the construction team.

  5. 05

    Conduct regular jobsite inspections to evaluate workmanship, cleanliness, safety, and construction progress.

  6. 06

    Supervise trade partner activities and ensure work is completed according to schedules and established scopes of work.

  7. 07

    Partner with municipal inspectors to obtain timely approvals and maintain compliance with building codes and local requirements.

    Monitor change orders, purchase orders, trade partner invoices, utilities, and construction documentation.

  9. 09

    Maintain compliance with applicable stormwater management policies, inspections, and documentation requirements.

  10. 10

    Conduct field meetings with construction teams, trade partners, and Sales to maintain alignment and resolve outstanding issues.

    Manage departmental performance against established schedules, budgets, policies, and operational targets.

03 / Experience

What we're looking for.

  • Minimum of five years of project or construction management experience within residential construction.
  • Minimum of three years of experience directing, coordinating, and supervising construction personnel.
  • Strong production homebuilding experience and knowledge of field operations across multiple communities.
  • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, budgeting, quality control, safety, and document management.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop Construction Managers and field teams.
  • Experience managing trade partner performance and working with municipal inspectors.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, specifications, and scopes of work.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and valid automobile insurance required.
